Doris Svensson, known mononymously as Doris, was born on July 1, 1947, in Gothenburg, Sweden. She began her singing career in 1962 with the local band The Strangers and later recorded tracks with Plums and The Dandys. In April 1970, Doris recorded her debut solo album Did You Give the World Some Love Today Baby at EMI studios in Stockholm. Released by Odeon in Sweden that year, the album gained critical acclaim upon its re-issue by Mr Bongo in 1996. Doris passed away on January 15, 2023, at the age of 75. Her work has been featured in video games like Grand Theft Auto V and sampled by influential hip-hop producer Madlib for Quasimoto's "Closer". She died on January 15, 2023.
