José Sánchez Bernal, known as Naranjito de Triana, was a Spanish flamenco singer born in 1933 in Seville. He inherited his stage name from his father and grew up in the flamenco-rich neighborhood of Triana, performing for the first time at age eight in Coria del Río. Sánchez Bernal's career began with performances in groups such as Marifé de Triana’s company for La Emperaora and Antoñita Moreno’s group. He embarked on extensive tours throughout the Americas, including Canada, the United States, Hawaii, Bermuda, Curaçao, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica, helping to promote flamenco internationally. He received multiple awards, including the Premio Nacional de Cante from the Cátedra de Flamencología de Jerez in 1987, as well as honors such as the Golden Arrow from Radio Nacional de Sevilla and the Taranto de Oro from Peña Flamenca El Taranto de Almería. He retired in 1996 with a recital at the Bienal de Sevilla and passed away in 2002.
