Michel Tonnerre, born on June 30, 1949, in Quimperlé, France, was a singer-songwriter. He began writing seriously at the age of 18 and started performing with a friend in bars frequented by sailors in Lorient. In 1970, he co-founded the group Djiboudjep with Mikaël Yaouank, where he gained recognition for songs like "Quinze marins" and "Satanicles". After a stint in the import-export business and various travels, including to New Caledonia and Australia, Tonnerre embarked on a solo career. His debut album Fumier d'baleine was released in 1992, followed by notable works such as Ti beudeff (1993 ) and L'oiseau noir (1995). In 1996, he wrote, directed, and performed in the opera pirate Libertalia. He passed away on July 3, 2012, at the age of 63 due to cancer.
