Djiboudjep, a French sailor song music group from Lorient, was founded in 1970 by Mikaël Yaouank and Michel Tonnerre. The band initially gained traction performing at Ti Beudeff on the Île de Groix and quickly became known for popularizing traditional sea shanties as well as composing new songs like "Quinze marins" penned by Tonnerre. Djiboudjep participated in numerous festivals, including the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, where they performed 49 times. The group released over a dozen albums and achieved significant success with their 2006 release totaling 33,000 copies sold through Coop Breizh. Notable members included Philippe Berthonneau on violin and Gérard Bono on banjo. Djiboudjep's influence extended beyond France, performing in countries such as Quebec, Germany, and Spain. In 2019, the group was set to celebrate its 50th anniversary but tragically lost founding member Mikaël Yaouank before they could perform at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient.
