和田加奈子 (Kanako Wada) was born on October 28, 1961, in Japan, and emerged as a singer whose work blended electronic music, jazz, pop, and soul/R&B. She entered the music scene with the single "パッシング・スルー" released on November 21, 1985, which introduced her smooth vocal style to the Japanese market. Her debut album Tenderness followed in 1986, establishing her presence as a contemporary artist. In 1987 she released a trio of albums, Quiet Storm on March 4, 1987, and Esquisse on August 5, 1987, each exploring atmospheric arrangements and showcasing her versatility. The year closed with KANA on December 25, 1987. She continued to expand her catalog with Vocu (November 6, 1988) and the similarly titled VOCU, then dear on December 13, 1989.
