Masanori Ikeda, born 1 December 1966 in Japan, began his artistic journey as a singer and actor, later gaining recognition as a voice actor. His musical debut arrived in 1987 with the album QUARTERBACK, followed by NATURAL 22 in 1988 and Kaze No Naka No Tokyo in 1989, which solidified his presence in the Japanese pop‑rock scene; the same year, he released "Backmirror ni Kieta Koi", and Sugar Babe, and in 1990 followed with Mystery Dancer. Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Masanori Ikeda released singles that charted modestly on the Oricon rankings, and he collaborated with contemporary artists in the pop‑rock circuit. His work as a voice actor extended to prominent anime roles, most notably voicing Shishio Makoto in Rurouni Kenshin and narrating Yu‑Gi‑Oh! Duel Monsters, thereby broadening his audience beyond music.
