Rasta Knast is a German punk band from Celle, founded in 1997 by Martin Kliems and Andreas Höhn. The group's name references the Swedish punk band Asta Kask. Within days of formation, Rasta Knast produced their first EP, Prøbegepøgt (1997), featuring one original song and covers of Asta Kask songs translated into German. Their debut full-length studio album, Legal Kriminal, was released in 1998. The band's lineup changed frequently, but Kliems remained a consistent member. Rasta Knast released several EPs and albums, including Die Katze beißt in Draht (1999), Bandera Pirata (2001), and Trallblut (2012). They collaborated with international punk bands like Agrotóxico from Brazil and Crispy Nuts from Japan. They toured extensively across Germany, Sweden, Norway, Brazil, Japan, England, Ireland, Russia, and Spain, contributing to notable German punk rock compilations such as Weird System's Punk Rock BRD.
