Emils were a German crossover and punk ensemble from Hamburg formed in 1985. The group was established by Oliver Makris, Sven Carstens, Carsten Zisowsky, and Ille. The ensemble derived their name from the band Slime, which reads as Emils when spelled backward. They achieved professional recognition for their debut demo recording Demo '87 (1987) and signed with We Bite Records. Their recording career includes the debut studio recording Fight Together For… (1988). Their discography includes the studio recordings Es geht uns gut (1989), Wer frisst wen? (1990), and Licht am Horizont (1993). They released the compilation Der schwarze Fleck (1995) and the studio recording Partytime (1997). The ensemble became inactive in 1998 but resumed activity in 2011.
