Antonietta Meneghel, known professionally as Toti Dal Monte, was born on June 27, 1893, in Mogliano Veneto, Italy, and was an Italian soprano and actress. She studied with Barbara Marchisio and Antonio Pini-Corsi before debuting at La Scala in Milan in 1916. In 1922, Arturo Toscanini chose her to perform the role of Gilda in Rigoletto, leading her to focus on light soprano roles such as Rosina, Amina, Lucia, and Linda. Dal Monte became a leading soprano at La Scala and performed internationally from 1924 onwards. She added roles like Violetta, Mimi, and Madame Butterfly to her repertoire, leaving a notable recording of Madame Butterfly (1939) with Beniamino Gigli. Dal Monte retired in 1943 and later dedicated herself to theater and teaching. Her autobiography, "Una voce nel mondo", was published in 1961. She passed away on January 26, 1975, in Treviso, Italy.
