Tancredi Pasero, born on January 11, 1893, in Turin, Italy, was an opera bass. He studied with baritone Arturo Pessina in Turin and made his debut in Vicenza singing the part of Rodolfo in Bellini's Sonnambula in 1917. Pasero performed at major venues including La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, and the Covent Garden in London from 1929 until 1933. Notable roles included Oroveso, Raimondo, Ferrando, Fiesco, Padre Guardiano, and Alvise. He also sang in the world premiere of Umberto Giordano’s Il re as The Miller in 1929 at La Scala. His recorded legacy includes complete works such as Norma, La forza del destino, Un ballo in maschera, and Aida. After retiring from the stage in 1950, Pasero dedicated his time to teaching. He passed away on February 17, 1983, in Milan at the age of 90.
