Sonny Burns, born on September 19, 1930 in Nacogdoches, Texas, was an American country and rockabilly singer. He began his career with Eddie Noack's band before moving to Galveston and joining the KNUZ Houston Hometown Jamboree radio show. In 1954, Burns met George Jones during a performance at a friend’s house. The two became close friends and performed together in small clubs and bars. That same year, Burns signed with Starday Records and released his first singles "Heartbroken Me" (1954) and "Tell Her" (1954), which were well-received. His solo release "A Real Cool Cat" (1955), featuring Hal Harris on guitar, became one of his most notable tracks. Despite initial success, Sonny Burns' career faced challenges due to Jones' rising fame and his own struggles with alcoholism. In the 1960s, he signed with United Artists but saw limited success. He passed away in Nacogdoches, Texas, on October 21, 1992.
