George Riley Puckett, born on May 7, 1894, in Alpharetta, Georgia, was an American old-time musician and guitarist. He attended the Macon School for the Blind and learned to play banjo, piano, and guitar. His career began in 1922 with Clayton McMichen's Hometown Band on Atlanta radio station WSB. In 1924, Puckett recorded tracks like "Little Old Log Cabin in the Lane" with Gid Tanner for Columbia Records. He co-founded Gid Tanner and his Skillet Lickers in 1925, achieving hits such as "When You’re Gone I Won’t Forget" and "Ida Red". After the band's dissolution in 1931, Puckett continued his solo career. He died on July 14, 1946, in East Point, Georgia.
