Doo-wop group Randy & The Rainbows, from Maspeth, New York, formed in 1962. The original lineup included two pairs of siblings and a fifth member: Dominick "Randy" Safuto, Frank Safuto, Mike Zero, Sal Zero, and Ken Arcipowski. Initially known as Junior & the Counts and later The Encores, they recorded "Denise" in 1963 with producers from The Tokens. The single reached number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 5 on Canada's CHUM Hit Parade. Following the success of "Denise", Randy & The Rainbows released several other singles, including "Why Do Kids Grow Up" in 1964, which peaked at number 97 on the pop charts. Throughout their career, they performed under various names such as Madison Street and Triangle, touring with notable acts like The Spinners and The Beach Boys. In later years, Randy & The Rainbows released albums including C'mon Let's Go! (1982) and Play Ball (2001). Dominick "Randy" Safuto passed away in 2018, followed by Sal Zero in 2019.
