Robbie O'Connell, born on December 28, 1950, in Waterford, Ireland, is an Irish singer-songwriter who began his musical journey at a young age. He formed the Rotary Folk group with his sister Alice, which won the Kilkenny Beer Festival in the late 1960s. In 1977, O'Connell joined his uncles, the Clancy Brothers, touring extensively and contributing original compositions such as "Bobby's Britches" and "Ferrybank Piper". His solo debut album, Close to the Bone, was released in 1982. O'Connell collaborated with Mick Moloney and Jimmy Keane on critically acclaimed albums like There Were Roses (1985) and Kilkelly (1987). After leaving the Clancy Brothers in 1996, O'Connell performed with various groups, including the Clancy Legacy and the Green Fields of America, and hosted cultural tours to Ireland.
