Back Street Crawler was a British blues-rock band formed in 1975 by Paul Kossoff, formerly of Free. The group included Terry Wilson-Slesser on lead vocals, Terry Wilson on bass, Tony Braunagel on drums, and Mike Montgomery, and later John Bundrick, on keyboards. Signed to Atlantic Records, they released their debut album, The Band Plays On, in 1975. Despite a successful UK tour that year, Kossoff’s struggles with drugs increasingly overshadowed the band’s progress. Their second album, 2nd Street, was recorded with producer Glyn Johns and featured contributions from session musician W.G. 'Snuffy' Walden due to Kossoff's health issues. The band continued to perform, including a notable series of shows at the Starwood in West Hollywood. Tragically, Kossoff died on March 19, 1976, leading to the cancellation of an upcoming tour with AC/DC. Following Kossoff’s death, the remaining members briefly continued under the name Crawler.
