CCS, a British jazz rock band, was formed in 1970 by pianist and keyboardist John Cameron and producer Mickie Most. The group's name is an acronym for Collective Consciousness Society. Cameron, who had studied classical music at Cambridge University, brought together some of the most prominent figures from the British rock, jazz, and blues scenes to create a supergroup with powerful rock bases and a brass section reminiscent of big bands. CCS released their self-titled debut album in 1970, which included covers such as "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones and "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin. Their version of "Whole Lotta Love" became a significant hit, reaching number 13 on the UK charts. The band's second album, CCS II, was released in 1971, followed by The Best Band In The Land in 1973. Notable singles from these albums include "Tap Turns On The Water" and "Walkin'". Despite their chart success, the band disbanded in 1974 due to financial difficulties and the diverse commitments of its members. Posthumous releases include the compilations 2 + 2 Vol. 19 (1977), Best Of CCS (1977), Whole Lotta Love (1991), A's, B's & Rarities (2004) and Tap Turns On The Water - The CCS Story (2013).
