Shu-Cheen Yu, a Chinese-Australian soprano born in China, began her musical journey as a folk singer, releasing five albums before moving to Australia in 1987. Initially working as a cleaner, she pursued opera training and was cast in the 1990 production of Chess. Her debut album, Lotus Moon, released under ABC Classics in 2001, earned her a nomination for Best Classical Album at the ARIA Music Awards. In 2003, she released Serenade with the same label.
