Kortatu was a Spanish ska punk band from Irún, Guipúzcoa, formed in 1984 by brothers Fermin Muguruza and Iñigo Muguruza along with Mattin. Their debut came in 1985 with the release of the song "Nicaragua sandinista", which appeared on the split album Kortatu/Cicatriz/Jotakie/Kontuz-Hi! (1985), also known as Disco de los cuatro. This was followed by their self-titled debut album Kortatu (1985), featuring notable tracks like "Sarri, Sarri" and "Zu atrapatu arte". The band embarked on extensive tours across Spain and Europe. In 1986, they released the EP A la calle and their second studio album El estado de las cosas. Kortatu released Kolpez kolpe in 1988, which was entirely sung in Euskera. Their final live performance on October 1, 1988, in Pamplona, was recorded and released as the double live album Azken guda dantza (1988). Kortatu disbanded later that year after a total of 280 concerts.
