Kashbad was a Basque rock band formed in Errenteria, Spain, in the late 1990s. The group initially consisted of Igor Elizondo, Txiki, Gorka Sesma, Gorko Lazkano, Karlos Osinaga, and Ivan, who started as a punk band before adding vocalist Sorkun Rubio. Their breakthrough came when Fermin Muguruza heard their demo and invited them to perform at the Hitz Egin festival and record with his label Esan Ozenki. Kashbad released their debut album Kashbad in 1996, produced by Kaki Arkarazo, which blended punk, hardcore, and reggae. Their second album, Distantzia, followed in 1997. The band evolved towards a more melodic sound for their third album, Hesiak (1999), recorded with José Lastra at Tío Pete studios. Despite critical acclaim for Hesiak, the band disbanded after several tours across Basque Country, Catalonia and Galicia. Kashbad reunited briefly in 2007 for a series of concerts and returned in 2014 with the album Arrakala.
