Second Layer was an English post-punk band formed in 1979 by Adrian Borland and Graham Bailey. The duo, both former members of the Sound, released their first EP, Flesh as Property, in 1979 through Tortch-R Records. This was followed by another EP, State of Emergency, in 1980. Their only studio album, World of Rubber, was recorded in France and released in 1981 by Cherry Red Records. The band's discography was reissued in 2015 by Dark Entries Records, including five unreleased demo tracks. Adrian Borland died on April 26, 1999.
