José Antonio Sánchez Ferlosio, known as Chicho Sánchez Ferlosio, born on April 8, 1940, in Madrid, was a Spanish singer-songwriter. He began his career composing numerous politically themed songs. In 1964, several of his compositions were recorded and released anonymously under the title Canciones De La Resistencia Española Año 1963, and "Gallo rojo, gallo negro" became an anthem against the Franco regime. Sánchez Ferlosio's work was later covered by notable artists such as Víctor Jara and Joaquín Sabina. His album A Contratiempo (1978) showcased his live performances. Throughout his career, he collaborated extensively with other musicians and contributed to various documentaries and films, including Fernando Trueba's Mientras el cuerpo aguante. Sánchez Ferlosio passed away on July 1, 2003, in Madrid due to colon cancer.
