Chick Henderson, born Henderson Rowntree on November 22, 1912, in Hartlepool, England, was an English singer. He began his music career with recordings for Harry Leader in June 1935 and later sang with Joe Loss's radio orchestra. In July 1939, he recorded "Begin the Beguine" with Joe Loss' orchestra, which sold over a million copies. Henderson's career included over 250 recordings, though his name did not appear on most labels. He enlisted in the Merchant Navy during World War II and sustained fatal wounds in June 24, 1944. Posthumous releases include Begine The Beguine (1981) and Remember Me (1994).
