Eva Ortiz, known professionally as Eva O, was born on January 11, 1961, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She moved to Los Angeles in 1979 to pursue a rock career. Her early bands included Speed Queens and Super Heroines. In 1982, she contributed to Only Theatre of Pain by Christian Death. Eva O formed Shadow Project with her then-husband Rozz Williams in 1987, releasing two studio albums. She went solo in 1993 with Past Time. After Rozz Williams' suicide in 1998, she continued to release music under various iterations of Christian Death and as a solo artist.
