Leif Garrett, born Leif Per Nervik on 8 November 1961 in Hollywood, California, is an American actor and singer who rose to fame as a teen idol in the 1970s. He began his entertainment career at age five, initially focusing on acting, and his breakthrough role came in the film Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969), followed by notable performances in Walking Tall movies and the ABC TV series Family. In late 1976, he signed a five-album deal with Atlantic Records, releasing his debut single "Come Back When You Grow Up" in early 1977. His first album, Leif Garrett, was released in July of the same year, featuring covers of classic hits like "Runaround Sue" and "The Wanderer". In mid-1978, he signed with Scotti Brothers Records and recorded his second album, Feel the Need. The single "I Was Made for Dancin'" from this album reached number 10 on the US Hot 100 and number four on the UK Singles Chart in early 1979. Subsequent albums included Same Goes for You (1979), Can't Explain (1980), and My Movie of You (1981). For the most part, he stopped recording music in the early 1980s, focusing on acting until the mid-1990s when he returned to both singing and acting.
