Cor Scorpii, a Norwegian metal band from Sogndal, was formed in late 2004 by keyboardist Gaute Refsnes after Windir disbanded. The group's name translates to "heart of the scorpion." Their first demo, Attergangar, was released in 2005 and received critical acclaim for its blend of extreme metal with melodic elements. Cor Scorpii signed with Dutch label Descent Productions and released their first full-length album, Monument, in March 2008. The band toured extensively, including performances at the Støy Festival and Inferno Metal Festival. In January 2010, guitarist Stian Bakketeig left due to time constraints with his other band Vreid, and was replaced by Erlend Nybø. Their second album, Ruin, was released in 2018.
