A little-known pianist and recording pioneer, Albert Ferber (1911-1987) studied with Marguerite Long and Walter Gieseking before embarking on a career in the 1930s. Also a conductor and composer for the cinema(The Hangman Waits in 1947), the London-based Swiss musician established himself as one of the foremost authorities on Debussy's piano works, published in the 1950s, rediscovered in 2011 and awarded a Diapason d'or. Rachmaninov's admired pianist has also recorded valuable interpretations of Fauré and Beethoven.
