Andor Földes, born on December 21, 1913, in Budapest, Hungary, was a Hungarian-American classical pianist. Born into a musically inclined family, Földes began his piano studies under the guidance of his mother and later with Tibor Szatmari. He gained early recognition as a prodigy, performing publicly at age eight. In 1932, he won first prize at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. His career took off with extensive tours across Europe from 1934 to 1939. The outbreak of World War II led him to emigrate to the United States in November 1939. In his new home, Földes collaborated with violinist Joseph Szigeti for three years, performing over 120 concerts together. Notable recordings include Wizard of the Keyboard and Bartók: Piano Works. He passed away on February 9, 1992, in Herrliberg near Zürich, Switzerland.
