The Bollweevils is a punk band from Chicago, formed in 1988 with members Daryl Wilson on vocals, Joe Mizzi on bass, Ken Fitzner ("Ken Weevil") on guitar, and Pete Mumford on drums. The group's early break came when they opened for Naked Raygun at the Metro in 1989 after sending a demo tape to the band, leading to their first performance with Daryl Wilson as vocalist. Their early releases included Stick Your Neck Out! (1994) and Heavyweight (1995), both on Dr. Strange Records. The Bollweevils gained recognition with their live album Weevillive, recorded at the Metro in 1995 and released in 1996. In 1996, the band went on hiatus as Daryl Wilson completed medical school. They reunited for sporadic shows starting in 2003 and again in 2006, continuing intermittent activity in later years. The Bollweevils later released Essential on Red Scare Industries in 2023.
