Funeral Oration were a Dutch melodic hardcore punk band from Amsterdam formed in 1982. The ensemble was founded by vocalist Peter Zirschky, who originally established the group as Art Protexion in 1980 and Last Warning in 1981 before adopting the name Funeral Oration. In 1983, bassist William Steinhäuser joined the lineup after responding to an advertisement placed by Zirschky. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style that influenced punk scenes across Europe and the United States. Their recording career began with the cassette There's Nothing Left To Laugh About (1983), followed by the debut studio album Communion (1985). The group toured the United States three times during the 1990s and issued seven full-length LPs. Their discography includes the studio recordings Funeral Oration (1987), Say No To Life (1993), and Survival (1998). The ensemble became inactive in 1999.
