Rolf Müller, known professionally as Benny Quick, was born on December 31, 1943, in Essen-Katernberg, Germany. As a teenager, he developed a passion for rock 'n' roll music and began performing under the name Charly aus Essen with various bands in local venues. In 1961, after winning several singing competitions, Benny Quick was introduced to producer Heinz Gietz by Udo Werner. This led to his debut single "Motorbiene", released in November 1962 on the Columbia label of Electrola. The song, featuring motorbike sound effects and a German adaptation of Paul Simon's "Motorcycle", reached Number 27 in the German charts and became an enduring classic of doo-wop music in Germany. Benny Quick continued to release singles such as "Hallo Josephine" and "California Sun". He also recorded with Petra Prinz on tracks like "Bleib bei mir, Babe" and "Wir gehen unsern Weg allein". In 1965, he formed The Shandios as his backing band and released the live album Twens Top. After leaving Columbia, Quick focused on live performances and later worked as a DJ in Frankfurt am Main. His music saw a resurgence during the rock 'n' roll revival of the late 1970s and early 1980s, with "Motorbiene" featured in the soundtrack of the 1990 film Werner – Beinhart! Benny Quick passed away on December 22, 1999.
