Florian Heyerick was born on August 31, 1958, in Gent, Belgium. He studied at the conservatories of Brussels and Gent, as well as the Lemmensinstitut in Leuven, earning diplomas in recorder, flute, and chamber music. Heyerick began his career as a lecturer for chamber music, singing, and historical instruments at the Antwerp Conservatory from 1986 to 1990. In 1989, Heyerick established the vocal ensemble Vocaal Ensemble Ex Tempore. He became a professor at the Hogeschool Gent in 1990. Heyerick founded the CD label Vox Temporis and served as artistic director for numerous recordings across various labels. He is known for his expertise on the German Baroque composer Christoph Graupner. For his contributions, Heyerick received the Culture Prize of his hometown Gent in 2000.
