Jan Kobow, born in 1966 in West Berlin, Germany, is a German classical tenor known for his work in concert, Lied, and Baroque opera. He began his musical journey as a singer and soloist of the Staats- und Domchor, Berlin. Kobow studied organ at the Schola Cantorum in Paris and graduated in church music at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover in 1994. He continued his singing studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg under Sabine Kirchner.
Kobow's career includes notable collaborations with Nikolaus Harnoncourt and participation in John Eliot Gardiner’s Bach Cantata Pilgrimage. His awards included the first prize at the 11th International Bach Competition of Leipzig in 1998. In 2003, he recorded Bach cantatas with Philippe Herreweghe and the Collegium Vocale Gent. He performed the tenor arias of Bach's St John Passion.
