Georg Poplutz, a German singer born in Arnsberg, is known for his lyrical tenor voice. He studied music and English at the universities of Münster and Dortmund, followed by vocal training under Berthold Possemeyer at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and Christoph Prégardien at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. Poplutz made his operatic debut in L’incoronazione di Poppea by Monteverdi at the Stadttheater Gießen. He has performed extensively in churches and concert halls, collaborating with notable conductors such as Hermann Max, Ludwig Güttler, and Masaaki Suzuki. His solo discography included over 80 recordings, featuring works by Heinrich Schütz for the Carus-Verlag and Bach cantatas for the J.S. Bach-Stiftung. Poplutz has also explored Lieder, collaborating with pianists Hilko Dumno and Rudolf Lutz.
