Champ Clark Butler, born on December 21, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri, was an American singer who began his career at age 14. He formed a trio called the Holidays and worked as a comedy duo before being signed by agent Barbara Belle in July 1950. One of his first singles for Columbia Records, "Dear! Dear! Dear!", was released in 1951. Butler's breakthrough came with the release of "Them There Eyes" (1951), which reached number 22 on the Billboard Best Selling Pop Singles chart and sold 500,000 copies. He followed this success with hits such as "Down Yonder" (1951) and "Be Anything (But Be Mine)" (1952). Butler's career included six gold records and appearances on CBS television show Musical Nightcap. During the Korean War, he toured with the United Service Organizations in Korea. Butler passed away on March 8, 1992.
