Ann Richards, born Margaret Ann Borden in 1935 in San Diego, California, U.S., was an American singer. Raised in Albany, California, she began singing at age 15 and received vocal lessons from Judy Davis in exchange for babysitting Davis's children. In 1954, bandleader Charlie Barnet hired Richards for a five-month tour after hearing her perform at the El Patio Ballroom in San Francisco. She moved to Hollywood shortly thereafter and was discovered by Stan Kenton, who hired her as his new singer. She released her debut album, I'm Shooting High (1958), on Capitol Records. Her career included a notable performance at Carnegie Hall in 1960. Richards died in 1982. Posthumous releases include Ann (2005), Live In Hollywood (2011), and The Ultimate Collection (2011).
