Born in Salinas, California, Mimi Roman grew up riding horses and developed a passion for music early, taking piano lessons at age 8 and later learning guitar. After moving to Brooklyn and graduating from Erasmus High School, she studied art at Hofstra College. A guitar teacher encouraged her to pursue singing professionally, leading to an appearance on the Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts show in 1954. That same year, she was crowned Queen of the Madison Square Garden Rodeo. By age 20, she was recording for Decca Records. Mimi joined the WLW Midwestern Hayride in Cincinnati and toured with the Philip Morris Country Music Show, performing alongside legends like Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash. By the 1960s, she focused on commercial work and recording demos for top songwriters. She married Paul Evans in 1961, had a daughter, and later moved to Connecticut. In the 1980s, she hosted a radio show and performed locally in clubs.
