Op:l Bastards are a Finnish electronic group formed in Helsinki by Timo Kaukolampi (born 1971), Mikko Viljakainen—known as Vilunki 3000 (born 1973)—and Tuomo Puranen. The trio had previously played in the garage‑rock outfit Larry and the Lefthanded before adopting the name Opel Bastards, later shortened to Op:l Bastards after pressure from the Opel company. Their first releases appeared in the late 1990s with the single "Opel Bastards" (1998) and the EP Scorpius (2000). In 2001, they issued the album The Job on Form & Function, which was remastered in 2007 on Lefta/Jupiter with liner notes by Philip Oakey. The band performed a comeback show at Flow Festival on 18 August 2007 after a five‑year hiatus and released their second album II in 2009 on Iron‑Magnesium Records.
