Ensemble Plus Ultra, a British vocal and instrumental group specializing in Renaissance music, was founded in 2001 by conductor and musicologist Michael Noone and Warren Trevelyan-Jones. The ensemble focused on performing Spanish liturgical works from the 16th century with historically informed criteria. Their album, Morales En Toledo: Polifonía Inédita Del Códice 25, 1545-1547, featured previously unrecorded works by Cristóbal de Morales discovered by Noone in the Cathedral of Toledo's Codex 25. In 2004, they released Motetes, which was dedicated to Fernando de las Infantas, the first worldwide discography dedicated to this composer. In 2011, Ensemble Plus Ultra released a series of ten discs featuring sacred works by Tomás Luis de Victoria as part of the Proyecto Tomás Luis de Victoria, commemorating the 400th anniversary of the composer’s death.
