Michel Chapuis, born on January 15, 1930, in Dole, France, was an organist. He discovered the organ at age eight through the Riepp organ of the Collegiate Church of Dole. Chapuis began his formal training with Émile Poillot for piano and later studied under Jeanne Marguillard for organ. In 1950, he joined Marcel Dupré's class at the Paris Conservatory, earning a First Prize in 1951. He held positions at various churches, including Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Saint-Nicolas-des-Champs, and Saint-Séverin. Chapuis was also an advocate for the harmonium and served as president of the French Federation of Friends of the Harmonium. His discography includes notable albums such as Bach: The Complete Organ Works (1999) and Les orgues historiques (2006). Chapuis passed away on November 12, 2017, in Dole.
