Coon-sanders' Original Nighthawk Orchestra

La Coon-Sanders Original Nighthawk Orchestra, fundada en 1918 por el batería Carleton Coon y el pianista Joe Sanders, fue una banda de jazz pionera de Kansas City. Empezaron a emitir a nivel nacional en la emisora de radio WDAF en 1922, ganando popularidad con sus emisiones nocturnas desde el Hotel Muehlebach. La orquesta se trasladó a Chicago en 1924, actuando en el Blackhawk y realizando exitosas giras por carretera. En 1931, se trasladaron a Nueva York para una larga temporada en el Hotel New Yorker. La muerte de Carleton Coon en mayo de 1932 provocó la disolución de la banda. Joe Sanders continuó como director de orquesta a tiempo parcial hasta su muerte en 1965.
