Bagad Penhars, a traditional Breton music ensemble, was founded in 1985 by Jean-Yves Herlédan in Quimper, France. The group gained early traction performing at festivals under founders Olivier Lécuyer and Jean-Yves Herlédan. In 1994, they established a bagadig to train beginners, which helped them win the title of Champion of the Second Category in 2003. After a regulatory change delayed their promotion, Bagad Penhars finally advanced to the first category in 2006. The group released its debut album Arvest Kentañ in 2010 and celebrated its 25th anniversary with a new spectacle titled Eil Arvest. In 2013, they collaborated with Kolektif Istanbul for the spectacle Bagad Istanbul, which resulted in a live album of the same name released in 2016.
