Harold Kenneth Dorman, born on December 23, 1931, in Drew, Mississippi, was an American singer known for his contributions to rock and roll music. His career began with the release of "Mountain Of Love" in 1960 on the Rita record label. This single became a significant hit, selling over 1 million copies and reaching number 7 on the Billboard R&B singles chart and number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song's popularity led to numerous cover versions by artists such as Charley Pride, Johnny Rivers, Ronnie Dove, Bruce Springsteen, The Beach Boys, Tommy Cash, and Narvel Felts. Harold Dorman also wrote three songs for country music and blues singer-pianist Moon Mullican in the early 1960s: "Mr Tears", "Just to be With You", and "This Glass I Hold". Throughout his career, Harold Dorman released several singles including "I'll Come Running / River Of Tears" (1960), "I'll Stick By You / There They Go" (1961), "Moved To Kansas City / Take A Chance On Me" (1961), and "Uncle Jonah’s Place / Just One Step" (November 7, 1961). His final album, Mountain Of Love, was released posthumously in 1988. Harold Dorman passed away on October 8, 1988, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 56.
