Italian-American author, singer, and producer Ernest Peter Maresca, known professionally as Ernie Maresca, was born on 21 August 1938 in the Bronx, New York. He began his music career as a songwriter and singer. In 1957, he formed the doo-wop group The Montarays, who later changed their name to The Desires after signing with Seville Records. His breakthrough came when Dion DiMucci discovered his demo of "No One Knows" at a New Jersey pool hall. This led to a collaboration between the pair, resulting in the hit "No One Knows", which reached number 19 on the Billboard chart. Throughout the early 1960s, Ernie Maresca wrote several successful songs for Dion DiMucci, including "Runaround Sue" and "The Wanderer", both of which topped the charts. His own single "Shout! Shout! (Knock Yourself Out)" reached number six on the Billboard chart in 1962. However, his later singles did not achieve the same level of success, although he continued to work as a songwriter and producer. Ernie Maresca passed away on 8 July 2015 in Pompano Beach, Florida.
