Vincent Lucas is a French flautist born in 1967 in Nantes. He began musical studies at age eight at the Clermont-Ferrand Conservatory before being admitted to the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris in 1981. In 1984, he received the Prague International Radio Competition award. Lucas performed with the Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse between 1984 and 1989. He subsequently served as second flutist and solo piccolo with the Berlin Philharmonic for six years until 1995. In 1994, he became the principal flute soloist of the Orchestre de Paris. His recording career included several albums for the Indésens label, such as Saint-Saëns (Intégrale) (2010), which received the Best Recording of the Year award at the 2011 Victoires de la Musique. He also released the recordings Poulenc (2010) and Alone. Lucas became a professor at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Paris in 1999 and served as an assistant professor at the Conservatoire de Paris from 1995.
