Sofia Pettersson, born on December 30, 1970, in Kristinehamn, Sweden, is a Swedish singer known for her contributions to jazz music. She studied at the Malmö Academy of Music, where she frequently performed in local jazz clubs and collaborated with musicians such as guitarist Johan Leijonhufvud and bassist Mattias Hjorth. In 1998, Pettersson released her debut album Oasis with her quintet, marking a significant breakthrough in her career. She has since released several albums, including Slow Down (2002), That’s Amore (2004), and Still Here (2006). In 2004, Pettersson was severely injured in the tsunami in Thailand, an experience she processed in her album Still Here. In 2008, she released the album In Another World. Pettersson's music is influenced by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Paul Simon, and Joni Mitchell. She has also worked as a music teacher at the Stockholm Music Conservatory and written lyrics for Rigmor Gustafsson.
