Cléoma Breaux, born in 27 May 1906 in Crowley, Louisiana, known as Cléoma Falcon, was an American Cajun guitarist and vocalist. Born into a musical family, Falcon established a reputation as a multi-instrumentalist performing with her brothers in the ensemble Breaux Frères. In the mid-1920s, she began a musical partnership with accordionist Joseph Falcon, whom she married in 1932. Falcon gained recognition as the first woman to record Cajun music, participating in recording sessions for labels including Columbia and Decca Records between 1928 and 1937. Her career included extensive performances on the dance-hall circuit throughout Louisiana and Texas. Following a road accident in 1938, Falcon’s musical activities ceased. Falcon died on 8 April 1941 in Crowley, Louisiana. In 2002, she was inducted into the Cajun Music Hall of Fame, becoming the first woman to receive the honor.
