The Pooh Sticks is a Welsh indie pop band from Swansea, Wales, that formed in 1987. The group was founded by Steve Gregory and Hue Williams, who often used a fictitious lineup for promotional materials. They gained recognition for a jangly musical style and lyrics that satirized the contemporary independent music scene, as demonstrated in the songs “On Tape” (1988) and “Indiepop Ain't Noise Pollution” (1988). They released their debut studio album, Orgasm, (1988) followed by the recordings Formula One Generation (1990) and The Great White Wonder (1991). The latter album marked a transition toward an American power pop sound. Their subsequent recordings in this style include the albums Million Seller (1993) and Optimistic Fool (1995). For several tracks, they collaborated with the singer Amelia Fletcher on vocals. After being inactive for several years, they resumed activity in 2010.
