Magik Markers, a noise rock band from Hartford, Connecticut, was formed in 2001 by Elisa Ambrogio, Pete Nolan, and Leah Quimby. They gained wider recognition after opening for Sonic Youth on their American tour in 2004. Their debut album, I Trust My Guitar, Etc., was released on vinyl only in 2004 on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label. In 2006, Leah Quimby left the band to pursue a career in ventriloquism. Pete Nolan and Elisa Ambrogio continued as a duo. Notable releases include Boss (2007), produced by Lee Ranaldo, and Balf Quarry (2009). The band has toured extensively across the US and Europe. In 2020, Magik Markers released a studio album titled 2020, which received a rating of seven point three out of ten from Pitchfork.
