Datzu was a German rock band formed in 1984 in East Germany by Rainer Oleak, who played keyboard and had previously been part of Neue Generation. Other founding members included Ulrich Werfel on bass guitar, Frank Schirmer on drums, Günter Fischer on guitar, and Ines Paulke as the lead vocalist. Datzu initially served as a backing band for Frank Schöbel under the name Nanu. Their first release was the EP Datzu in 1986. The following year, Paulke left to pursue a solo career, and Anke Schenker briefly took over vocal duties before being replaced by Anett Kölpin. In 1989, Datzu released their sole album, Bist du noch wach, which featured the single "Ich denk’ an dich". The band disbanded later that year.
