Bat & Ryyd, a Finnish band from Kemijärvi, formed in the late 1980s and gained initial recognition through humorous broadcasts on Lapin Radio station. The band originally consisted of Juha Soppela and Oiva Mursu (DJ Tippa or Mr. Ryyd), with later lineups adding Timo Suhonen (DJ Trini). The group initially released their debut album Ehtaa tavaraa in 1989, which was self-published but later awarded a platinum record in Finland for selling over 52 thousand copies. Their music, characterized by humorous electronic pop and rock, features notable songs such as "Ehtaa tavaraa" and "Lentävä puliukko". The band's distinctive style includes transposed singing voices similar to those of the Smurfs and Pikku-Orava records. Following their debut success, Bat & Ryyd released Niin kallis on maa... in 1991 and Ryydimaa in 1998. Oiva Mursu also pursued a solo career with "Sixpack", a parody of Tom Jones' "Sex Bomb". Although the band has not produced new music since 1998, they continue to perform live gigs.
